Paths to Purpose: Defining Success on Your Own Terms
Hello RCD readers,
New week, new goals!
We all have business objectives we want to hit, but isn't it fascinating how the definition of "success" shifts from person to person? There is no single, paved highway to a fulfilling life. We are all navigating different terrains, guided by our own unique priorities and lifestyles.
I look at three friends of mine—all in their early thirties, yet each walking a completely different path. Each one is a beautiful example of success in their own right:
- The Faith-Driven Growth: One friend is embracing a new Christian-based lifestyle. While our social approaches to faith differ, we connect deeply through the power of prayer and a nurturing relationship with the Lord. Watching her go "above and beyond" to be herself—loudly and proudly—is inspiring. She found love when she stopped searching, proving that staying true to your core attracts exactly what you need.
- The Courageous Builder: Another friend is a first-generation immigrant navigating the "firsts" of family life. He faces the stress of the unknown with a kind heart and a pure laugh. Even when things are hard, he makes decisions that secure his family’s future. It’s a constant reminder that God always makes a way.
- The Intentional Individual: Then there is the friend who has stepped outside their comfort zone to simply enjoy life while growing on their own terms. Even when lifestyles clash and seasons change, there is a distinct success in having the time to be present and choose your own pace.
Reflecting on the Journey
I remember my own early 30s. I was fixated on the future, waiting for the "next phase" to start. I felt anxious, comparing my life to others and hesitating on the decisions I knew I needed to make. Looking back, I realize I was already successful then—I was independent, I could provide for my loved ones, and I was growing, even if it felt messy.
And now?
Success feels different. It feels like purpose. It’s the simplicity, the joy, and the peace that comes from reaching goals set between me and the Lord. I’ve stopped letting the world dictate my self-worth. My core is set on grace and protection, which removes the fear of change.
Starting the Week Right
As this new week begins, I’m starting it with a clear focus: keeping the Lord at the center and leaving everything outside of my control in His hands.
Your success doesn't have to look like anyone else's. Whether you are building a business, a family, a faith, or yourself—you are exactly where you need to be to take the next step.
Have a blessed week!
