From "Frita" to Faith: A Week in the Life of a God-Driven Business
Hello, RCD readers!
If you asked me to describe my brain right now, there is only one phrase that fits: "Frita como la papita." Just totally fried! It has been one of those weeks where "getting your ducks in order" feels more like trying to herd caffeinated squirrels.
A friend and I were recently venting about the universal truth that life is hard. We are both in the thick of it—they are navigating the beautiful chaos of new parenthood, and I’m over here balancing the architecture of a business with the literal choreography of teaching ballet. It’s a lot. But coming out of Lent, my focus has shifted. My faith has leveled up because, honestly, the Lord provides in ways my color-coded spreadsheets never could.
What Does "God-Owned" Actually Look Like?
I ended March on a "hoping for the best" note, which is basically the spiritual version of holding your breath. Choosing to run a God-driven business sounds peaceful, but in practice? It’s a challenge. It means:
- Evicting Fear: Not letting "what-ifs" make my executive decisions.
- Integrity Over Income: Choosing honesty even when it’s the slower, more expensive route.
- Celebrating Others: Genuinely cheering for other people’s wins without checking my own scoreboard.
- Serving, Not Just Selling: Letting the Holy Spirit lead me toward helping someone, even if there’s no invoice attached.
- Surrendering the Wallet: Trusting that the finances will balance when the timing is right.
Taxes, Tech, and Tiny Victories
This week started with the final glow of Easter and a dive straight into the deep end of QuickBooks. Let’s just say it took three hours of making the same mistakes, a very long conversation with Gemini, and a lot of trial and error to figure out how to log my first-year income. By nightfall, I finally cracked the code!
Now, April is looking like a mountain of paperwork:
- Income Tax: Both provisional and definitive (for me and the studio).
- Payroll & AOV: Keeping everything squared away for RCD.
- The "Double Check": Today is all about Profit & Loss statements. Before these numbers hit the official websites, I’m making sure every decimal point is exactly where it belongs.
The Power of the "Follow-Up"
People really underestimate the administrative "hustle." Staying in touch with clients and acquaintances is the engine that keeps the structure standing.
Because of that persistence, things are moving! I have a new project heading into the building permit phase (which I’ll be polishing over the weekend) and a potential new client for an apartment design.
Remember those "how am I going to pay the bills" jitters I had at the start of the month? Gone. As I told my friend, life is definitely hard, but I’m choosing to let the Lord provide. When the stress tries to creep in, I’m hitting the "prayer" button instead of the "panic" button.
How are you handling your "fry-day" brain this week? Let's chat in the comments!
