Burn | Day in the life RCD
Hello RCD readers,
I often shy away from political or world news in blog. But as I watched the fire in LA. And some Christians have so much conspiracy theories. Some are just jokes. But it makes me think of the the scriptures I'm currently reading.
Isaiah calls for the people of Israel to change direction before that day, to hear the word of the Lord and to give ear to God's teaching. Isaiah 1:10
Even from the first chapter, it is clear that the people have turned away from God and failed in their responsibilities as His children. Yet God miraculously holds out hope to this unrepentant people, offering cleansing of sins and the blessing that comes with faith and obedience in Him.
We are failing in so many ways. That's a given. From our greed, praising the wrong things, nonchalant disconnect with the Lord, our self serving ego thou is better than others.. I can actually go on.
The book of Isaiah has been on my mind to read for so long and as I'm finally getting back to reading my bible again. That is the one I wanted to start with and now I know why I had to read this.
Last time I talked about our greed. How our greed can backfire by our own hands. But what we forget or I think some don't care. It effects other's too and the future we leave behind to our kids. We live in a world were most of our problems is stemmed from someone's greed. Our health epidemics. You can say it's an coincidence but it's too obvious.
I'm going to speak of my country because those are the facts I know for sure.
Healthcare
Our health-care is suffering. Because the little money that we do have is being used for personal egotistical goals. Not for the main places that actually need it. For me it would be health care, education and making basic human needs affordable. I've seen with my own eyes that the blood bank has been suffering last year to keep the boat a float. The main source for the health care. And who helped Staatsolie and non profit organizations. Most of all Suriname people whom most of us don't have enough to even get by. Another example that I saw was health care for premature babies. I can go on and on. But you get the point. Medical care needs more finances in the right places. For starters invest is medical appliances. So that medical personal is equipped to do their work. I would like to see money put into homeopathic medicines instead of medicines with 1001 leaflets. Or most important the education and research of them.
Electricity problem
Last week I've heard complains about the electricity dam. They were discussing how the water level keeps going down and found it weird because downtown we have so much rain. But there is almost no drops of rain. And it makes you think. Suriname is a tropical country. We have a lot of rain mostly because the location of our country but also of our forest. Our amazing green that most countries in the world cut off. I have to point out a lot of a lot of logging is done. Many plots of land are sold to foreigners to fill people's pockets just out of greed. As a result, our land residents (Indigenous) reduce their chances here. The indigenous people know how to cut logging in a sustainable manner. But foreign companies completely ignore this. How do we expect rain there? Our own greed. So don't be surprised. The moment we start thinking about growth for our people and our country. And not our ego or pockets. That is the moment we'll see good change. But until then these problems will stay.
Faith
We are not living as what God's wants us too. And as Christians everyone has their own idea what that means. Because we are also divided in that way too. We've always been that way. Even in the bible you see the divide of what it means to be Christian. But the simple thing I'm learning "nurture your relationship with the Lord". If it means more praying. If it means reading the bible. If it means just being a good person towards others. If it means living solely by the scriptures. If it means going more to church. If it means going to God first in anything. For thanks. For repenting. For anger. For hurt. For confusion. For strength. etc. He is still waiting for you no matter how far you think that you have drifted from Him. He still loves you.
For those who can receive this blog post. All I'm saying.
"May we try to get closer to God. May we see our own faults. May we repent and change. For the Lord hasn't given up on us."
