Celebrate the little girl in her | Day in the life RCD
Hello RCD readers,
This studio break is flying by! Between taking time to rest, I’ve been focusing on what matters most: spending quality time with my family and creating unforgettable core memories with the kids.
This week was particularly special as we celebrated a huge milestone—my mommy turned 73! It was a wonderfully hectic day from start to finish. The birthday girl surprised me with a few impromptu requests, including trips for Sun Ice, cake, and McDonald's ice cream. Between playing Bingo and Ludo (her favorite game, which we're teaching to my nieces and nephews) and keeping up with the kids, it was an energetic, joyful afternoon. Spoiling her for her 73rd birthday made every moment worth it.
I kept things simple this break so everyone got to pick one special experience—from playground outings and acting as a nail dummy for a fun salon day, to special girl-bonding moments. These weeks have brought a mix of quiet days, restful moments, and productive afternoons. Simply said: peace, joy, and above all, gratitude.
Of course, real life doesn't pause, even on a scheduled studio break! While managing family fun, my phone was buzzing non-stop. Half of my clients seemed to miss the memo about my time off—including one unexpected drop-in at home!
As for my own wish list, I managed to smash through most of it in a single weekend. But balancing client demands and personal rest is a continuous learning process. After coming home the other afternoon, I printed out the latest drawing corrections for Project B. I felt tired, but deeply satisfied. Looking at my task list for both personal goals and studio operations, I realized I’d put a bit too much on my plate. Moving into October, my priority is streamlining my schedule, resting, organizing my home, and staying present with my loved ones.
Here is a quick breakdown of where current studio projects stand:
Project 1 (Building Permit): Finalizing technical drawing details today so I can print the set and deliver documents straight to the building department (praying for a smooth approval with no extra additions!).
Project 2 (3D Concept): Phase 1 3D modeling remains on hold until October.
Project 3 (Community Project): Structuring a reduced-rate design proposal to support the project sponsors.
Project 4 (Material Selection): Moving forward with material specifications now that the client has officially approved the selections.
Beyond ongoing projects, I’m also preparing several new architectural proposals for prospective clients. September has been non-stop, and while managing offers can feel overwhelming, it reminded me of a Reel I saw recently: “You can't complain when the table is full if you were the one who asked to eat.”
If I pray for work, abundance, and blessings, I have to steward my business well and carry what I asked for. Everyday is a learning process, and today was a reminder of how blessed I am—celebrating my mom, managing the hustle, and growing through it all.
