A letter to my dreamers

 

 

Hello RCD Readers,

When I first started this journey, long before RC Designs became what it is today, I didn't want to be just another standard service provider going through the motions. I wanted to do something deeply personal: I wanted to articulate and visualize what was inside your head—whatever that dream meant to you—and bring it into the real world.

That passion is where my slogan was born: We Visualize Your Dream House.

Over time, I actually stopped posting that phrase as often. I saw other drafters and companies taking the line and throwing it around as cheap marketing text, without ever understanding the heart and soul behind it. But to me, those words carry the entire history of why I built this studio in the first place.

The Project That Set the Foundation

To understand what that slogan truly means to me, I have to take you back to one of my very first client experiences.

I was just starting out as a licensed drafter, years before becoming a registered architect. I was young, ambitious, and hungry to prove myself. Then came a client who was even younger—not even 25 yet, fresh out of school, standing on a raw, muddy plot of land with clay on his shoes and a massive vision in his mind.

He and his partner had a dream to build their future home together. All he had to show me was a single reference picture. He wanted a modern flat-roof design—something I hadn't yet tackled independently at that stage of my career.

I was completely honest with him. I told him I wanted to bring in a senior mentor to review and verify my structural calculations and drawings to make sure everything was flawless for the building permit. Instead of doubting me, this young couple gave me a chance. They trusted me. They saw that I cared just as much about their dream as they did.

I remember stepping onto that site with my partner back then, looking at that open piece of land with this ambitious young couple, and feeling the energy of what was possible. That project gave me a real taste of what this work should feel like.

After that project, I didn't get another independent private client for nearly four years. I survived on freelance work for other companies, grinding away and building my skills behind the scenes. But that early experience remained my north star. It reminded me why I chose this path.

To the Dreamers Who Save, Sacrifice, and Dare

Fast forward to today: I work extremely hard to elevate this business every single day. I know I’m not at my final destination yet, but I am constantly pushing forward in every way possible.

And when I look at my clients, I see that exact same drive reflected right back at me.

In the economic reality we face today, building a home is a courageous act. I see young couples, hardworking families, and determined individuals saving every spare cent for years or taking on significant financial commitments, all to build something lasting for themselves. I am often in absolute awe of how hard my clients work to make their vision real. To step up and dare to build despite every obstacle—that takes immense courage.

Being trusted to hold the blueprint of someone’s life savings and personal dreams is not something I take lightly. It is a privilege. I am filled with the utmost gratitude every time a dreamer chooses me to walk this path with them.
