Back To The Basics | Day in the life RCD
As I sit in my car trying to wake up—because yes, I accidentally overslept a little this morning—I am wrapping my head around how to tackle the month of June.
Looking at the board, I have 5 projects for this year that have successfully received their building permits through my services and are ready to move into the construction phase! I also have one project currently waiting for its building permit, and another that is still being prepared for the permit process.
Work-wise, this means I am right on schedule.
But then there is the secondary part of running a studio: the administrative side. If I'm being completely honest, I have four main areas on my mind right now:
✅️The paperwork: General administration is running a little bit behind.✅️The books: While my finance tracking on my app and hardcopy is completely on schedule, I am behind on digital QuickBooks entry.
✅️The craft: Continuously pushing for growth in high-quality design services.
✅️The presence: Feeling like my professional exposure is lacking from my own perspective.
So, as this new month begins, the big question I had to ask myself was: Was May a successful month? Yes or no?
To answer that, I had to stop and remind myself of the "small" wins—which are actually pretty huge when you look at them all together:
✅ Double Permit Success: I received two approved building permits in the month of May!✅ Speed & Efficiency: I completely finished a project within a tight three-week timeline.
✅ Progress: I finally received the corrections and feedback for a project currently in the building permit phase, meaning we can push it forward.
✅ Financial Health: I paid myself on time in May.
✅ Adulting Wins: I sorted all yearly car expenses—from insurance and servicing to inspections and fixing what needed fixing (hello, brand new car tires!).
✅ Artistic Growth: I made time for a masterclass where I tackled Swan Lake and balance.
✅ Consistency: I actually attended ballet class more frequently this past month.
✅ Well-being: I intentionally took moments to reset my body and mind.
✅ Marketing Breakthrough: I doubled my reach on Facebook in May, which doubled my contact inquiries. Not everyone became a client, but the ones who were truly serious did!
✅ Strategy: I actually implemented and stuck to a strategic marketing plan for my content.
Yet, even with all these wins, having the time to reconnect with myself made me realize my anxiety levels were running high. So, for this month, my focus is shifting back to God—handing over the things that are too heavy for me to carry alone.
My Goals for June:
With a clear mind and a fresh perspective, here is what I am tackling this month:
✨ Secure new clients for the studio.
💻 Give QuickBooks another solid try.
📊 Organize my 2026 Profit & Loss statement in Excel.
📱 Log my 2022 and 2023 historical finances into my tracking app.
📝 Finalize the Profit & Loss statements for income tax submission by the end of June.
🩰 Finish the ballet choreography and complete costume fittings for my students.
🌿 Non-negotiable: Continue prioritizing my physical body and mental health.
Thank you for being part of the RC Designs journey. Here’s to a structured, successful, and faithful June!
