The Archipreneur Life: Finding Balance Between Blueprints and Blessings
Hello RCD readers,
This month began wrapped in a blanket of love ❤️. You know those quiet, sweet gestures that speak louder than a shout? The kind where someone simply goes out of their way to show they care. From a thoughtfully curated birthday package to a surprising "happy belated" from an old friend—even when things hadn't ended on the best terms—my heart has been full.
And let’s talk about the real winner: someone remembered my obsession with Choco Pies! 🍫
For the past three years, I’ve chosen to keep my birthdays low-key. This year was no different, yet it felt "heavy" in the best possible way. In the silence and simplicity, I felt God’s presence so clearly. I even rediscovered the joy of cooking! Taking over the kitchen to make homemade pizza, tacos, and spaghetti with the kids was what I like to call a "frustrating blessing." It was chaotic, messy, and absolutely perfect.
Now, Let’s Talk Shop 🏗️
The life of an archipreneur is a constant dance of time management and making high-stakes choices for productivity. Like today: the sun wasn't even up before I was at my desk.
This week actually started with a tough executive decision: canceling a project. As an entrepreneur, knowing when to say "no" is just as important as knowing when to say "yes." But the grind never stops! I just received a permit for an ongoing client, and this Friday is all about the building permit phase—checking for those all-important approvals or any necessary corrections.
My current drafting board look-ahead:
- Today’s Mission: Finalizing a complex roof plan and emailing out a separate project by tonight’s deadline.
- Tomorrow’s Focus: Polishing the facades and completing the cross-sections.
Finding My Rhythm
Between the technical drawings, I made it to my ballet class. After a long hiatus, I finally dove into a new ballet course. Let’s be real: I am definitely out of shape! But moving through Ballence and Swan Lake felt like a belated birthday gift from above. It reminded me that even when we feel "stiff" in our routines, we can always find our flow again.
As I balance the precision of architecture with the fluid grace of dance and the beautiful chaos of family life, I’m reminded of this:
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." — Colossians 3:23
Whether I’m drawing a cross-section or teaching a ballet leap, I’m doing it with gratitude. Stay motivated, stay creative, and remember to find the "sweetness" in your week!
With love and blueprints,
RCD
