Suspence | Day in the life RCD
Hello RCD readers,
The month feels like it's flying by. As we can see today is already January 20th. I have so many feelings🤣. The topic of having this feeling came up last week.
Instagram marketing props
Let's rewind and go back to the beginning. Now where to start. Year's ago when I started focusing on growing my Instagram page after not looking at it as away to get client's. I founded an Australian woman who started a small business when she lost her job during covid. And yes she has the credentials and experience or I would not be listening to her for advice. Her marketing method for Instagram was easy to follow and to understand. Which is why I use her tips for my own marketing strategy. Okay reel it in. Last week she posted about feeling overwhelmed. Which she feels every beginning of the year. Ofcourse I commented because she is open to giving advice and has alsways done that via DM.
So called Christmas break
I felt overwhelmed during Christmas break already before 2025 even began. The last week of 2024. I just kept thinking thing's that have to be done.
First week back to work
And when my first week began I felt overwhelmed. I did work but more finances, administration and follow ups. And it was really hard to get into the work mode itself. Meaning drafting in AutoCAD and sketchup. Or sketching for clients.
Get my shit in order
And when I got a call that we are starting my second day back to work that we would begin with classes. I had to get my Shit in order and get focused. A lot of figuring out.
- which days am I taking
- which hours am I saying yes too
- how long can I give classes and is plausible to do
- am I staying with the classes I have which our different day or do I let some classes go.
- am I driving back directly to go work or staying for the 5 o'clock traffic.
- how will this effect my business and my personal life.
2nd week
The combining of RCD , ballet teacher , personal responsibility and self care. Oow boy that took a toll to be honest.
Choosing selfcare in 2025
I had to let go of one thing mostly because I would be doing it for an old friend. Instead of recharging. And I'm choosing to take better care of my body. Not only my spirituality but also my mental health. So that means not streching myself to thin. This means I'm checking still what works for me. So next week I'm keep the class days and looking if I can do this. A friend was like "is this worth the income".. hahah He is right in a way but still.. funny how men and women brain's function.
Suspence is normal
Getting overwhelmed beginning of the year is normal. You think about what you want to achieve. You think about is it possible this year. You think about how are you going to succeed in your quest. You think about your finance over the year. Including your financial goals. And so on. It is overwhelming.
Key strategies to manage feeling overwhelmed:
👉Mindfulness techniques:
Deep breathing: Take slow, deep breaths to calm your nervous system.
Grounding exercises: Focus on your senses by noticing what you see, hear, smell, taste, and touch.
Meditation: Practice guided meditation to quiet your mind.
As a Christian what works for me is talking to God before the day begins and when before the day ends
👉Prioritization and Organization:
To-do list: Write down all your tasks and prioritize them based on importance.
Break down large tasks: Divide big projects into smaller, manageable steps.
Set realistic goals: Don't overload yourself with too much at once.
This works to start the week with planning my goals for the weeks. Plus writing down how your day actually went (tasks wise). It keeps me up to date what still needs to be done and which task needs more attention to finish on time
👉Self-care practices:
Physical activity: Exercise regularly to release stress.
Healthy sleep: Ensure adequate sleep to recharge your body and mind.
Healthy eating: Maintain a balanced diet to support your well-being.
Relaxing activities: Engage in hobbies you enjoy, like reading, listening to music, or spending time outdoors.
I miss reading but music is still my number one recharging mode. I'm still working on a better sleeping schedule. But physical I've been taking serious since January began. This clears my mind entirely and I sleep so much better those days.
👉Social support:
Talk to someone you trust: Share your feelings with a friend, family member, or therapist.
Seek professional help: If overwhelm is significantly impacting your life, consider therapy to develop coping mechanisms.
👉Boundary setting:
Learn to say no: Don't be afraid to decline requests that are not aligned with your priorities.
Protect your time: Allocate specific time slots for important tasks and relaxation.
This is something I've mastered. Learning to say no. Choosing yourself when it comes to selfcare moments.
