Know your worth| Thursday July 1st 2021
Hello RC Designs readers and watchers,
A look back in time
This is a belated project update. The days are going so fast and the lock-down that we had in Suriname has lightened a little. We only have full lock-down on Sunday and international holidays. And we have a 6 o'clock mandatory curfew.
Looking back at these almost 9 weeks semi- lock downs in our country was frustrating to say at least. In my work field not being able to have the construction and housing supervision department fully open was hectic. My patience had run out and trying to keep my work ethics up was impossible. BUT I'm not the only one so why should I complain.
First project back
Two weeks ago I got an email of freelance employer for a potential project that we discussed like months ago. The appointment was for last week but dum dum dumm... So this week I finally got an phone call and we discussed the project.
What follows now?
- finding a contractor for the steel calculations and drawings.
- calculating my price for the drawings and the building permit
- contacting to see if the offer follows through
- drawing the preliminary layout
Contemplating if the offer is mine
As I wait for an offer from a contractor tonight, I'm thinking about whether they will actually say yes. And that is the insecurity talking. Sometimes I think about if men have this problem. Or if other females in my work field have this problem. If anyone even thinks twice about "will anyone pay what I'm worth or will they walk away".
So trying to talk my inner insecurity out of negativity. But fully embracing anything positive that comes towards me.
Let me know in the comment. If you know what your worth is, do you ever second guess if people will see that. And how do you handle when they don't?
