The work behind the work | Day in the life RCD
Hello RCD readers,
This work week is coming to an end. The month began really hectic. With possibilities and promises. And ofcourse not everything will flourish as it should. I believe that's how the cookie crumbles. The moment you accept it and just enjoy the process and the work within. You will never be stressing about what if.
This week I talked to an colleague. She was stressing about the future with a lot of what if. And I told her similar how real life works. Nothing is promised. You can save up and plan everything right for your retirement and still not be ready for it. And that's life. I don't believe that going straight to fear instead of reality is smart. You see. God takes care of us. We have to just follow Him. I know it's easy said. But it takes a lot for me to keep that mindset.
It all started with taxes. Hint the title " the work behind the work". Being an archi-preneur. I have many hat's to wear. From architect, to administration assistant, to accountant, to content creater/marketer and last to director. I have to find time for each part. Now I can say I'll let somebody do each part or I can make time in my schedule. I make time.
Administration assistant
With that being said. This week followed mailing and contacting clients for follow ups, colleagues for external services and plan my month for possible deadlines. I need to do quick books. But work be working. So I'm still working old school and that's by hand. The buying office supplies for the new year is going slow. Mostly because other things get in the way. Sometimes work. Sometimes other responsibilities. Sometimes money is used for something else.
Accountant
This month tax department is looking for money. 🤣Preliminary income tax assessment 2026, Collective payroll statement (or annual summary statement of wages) for 2024 and 2025. All with deadlines end of December 2025, end of January 2025 and last mid February 2026. Now ofcourse this means stopping work and getting my books in order. Luckily I keep my income and expenses in check. So last month on my Christmas break. I tried my best to figure out the collective payroll 2024. This was suppose to be done in 2024. But they never gave us the form to fill in. Hence the pushing us a unrealistic deadline because of the department tardiness. Now normally that of 2025 needs to be done in April. But for some apparent reason they pushed it back to the beginning almost of this year. Which means by end January. The preliminary income tax statement of 2026 needs to be done with the definitive of 2025 plus also in April 2026. Same thing. Pushed way back for no reason to mid February which I find really unfair. So I have to figure out what I have to fill in the form before end of this month.
Content creator / marketer
So this year I was ready to go. I looked up when I wanted to promote. I checked all the national day's off. I was hyped made my content calender and all. I was ready. By the beginning of this week I created an entirely different marketing strategy for this month. More call to action. Less reels behind the scenes. More single post real time stories behind the scenes. More tips that are based on client current specific questions. But I'm keeping last week of the month chill no content week. If it will be successful. We'll see. I've also already started blogging which gives more exposure to my brand. But also made some YouTube clips for this year. Stay tuned. This is beneficial for my portfolio.
Architect
This month I have to wear different hat's by doing multiple project's. First of is finishing ongoing project's:
- project M I have to check today if there is any corrections or if I've received the building permit.
- project V I checked the definitive drawings this week and need to correct them next week. Still waiting for the documents so I can start the building permit process.
- project T the engineer gave me the calculations for December. I gave him a break because I knew new year fresh start is a good idea. The client has corrections with the roof maybe. We'll see.
- project M kinda shocked me with the fence building permit request hopefully the documents are still useable. I finished that this yesterday.
- project HV this is an old client. We still have to enter the building permit phase. But I was asked to be the person to find her an contractor . My first time being that involved. So I still have to figure out the cost but that's how we grow. Pushing ourselves into situations we can handle and are equiped to do but still scared to do so.
- collaborations I have something in the works that I'm really scared to put my hopes too much up. But it's hopefully beneficial for my company's growth.
Director
This is a lot of thinking work. Making consistent decisions that work best for the growth. But most important. Looking back if there is growth and what needs to be changed. The same goal is not yet achieved from my perspective.
- efficient consultation and design process
- online presence
- successful but also manageable online martkening strategy
- keeping up moral and ethic (keeping this a Christian owned business.)
- making room for educational growth also.
So that's a glimpse of the work behind the work. The behind the scenes of making a business itself grow. Slowly but steady. Strategic choices and executions.
Have an blessed weekend
