The Real Yes | RCD Project update

Hello RCD readers,

I haven't posted blogs like this in a minute but let's have a recap.

October is such a blessed month. I started the second week working after my September break with ballet classes and RCD work. I had some help from my friends. One invited my to a "pangi feest". It was such a different experience.  I was out of my comfort zone because I only know her during the party (20 years friendship). The second was my good ballet friend that took me out to CY coffee. I tried my first fried squid.  And going out right before I start working again was just what I needed. My other friend helped me reconnect spiritually with referral to try proverbs to read this month. It's  what I needed because this year reading my bible has been a struggle. And last our fun family get togethers with the kids was just what we needed.  It was hectic and sometimes a little bit exhausting.  But seeing them play together is all worth the tiredness and yelling of course.

Project dream
The month began with me checking building permit of project dream. It's a project from last year November.  The client is an fellow colleague in my work field. She lives in St.Maarten now. It started with just a fence. And it evolved into three different houses she wants to build over the years. Everything was her design. So I'm actually just her drafter at this point because I don't actually give design advice here. I'm not really sure she took any of my suggestions🤣.  She made three cool concepts "container design, A-frame house and the main house that has a vibe of outdoor nature concept." The building permit is taking so long. I leave these people to God. You'll meet yourself one day. I won't scoop to their level. I keep it professional. Because God has me. Even when they say no.

Project M
In September the client needed to give approval so I could start with drafting the definitive drawings. They waited till the day of my September break to say they'll give feedback the day I start working. Of course no respond first week of October.  I needed to follow up and they didn't have any corrections. Which was funny.  The design is their concept. Because they kept correcting and them not knowing exactly what they wanted. I knew my consulting had to change. So I became drafter for a couple of months. Not giving my feedback about the design. Because they didn't keep any of the feedback. So as I wait for the deposit to start the definitive process now. I'm focusing of other project's .

It's only a yes when you get a deposit
I had two potential client's that are in limbo.

Project S
One heard the price and never responded. He was all in. Very communicative on time. So for him to suddenly be quiet and means he is not interested anymore. I did work really hard to make my proposal but every failure teaches me something.

My mistake is the consulting process.  I give an online form. Over the years people didn't want to do this but so I made an effort to meet them half way. The problem here is transport and your time for not a definitive yes.  So I have to figure out how to simplify and cheap down this part of the process. So that I don't loose time and money with this.

Project V
Second are actually two. I'll put them in one because maybe it's a yes and they are just late with responding.

Project V
The first a couple from I think August or July. They needed to give approval of a design but never responded. The first consultation was taking to long because I made the mistake of letting the client lead beginning process with not setting better firm boundaries. Mostly because they had a design. And now it feels like they don't and need preliminary design. Another boundaries that are crossed by my own fault not to set them up first.
- No response or no deposit should mean no drafting or my time.
- Including bulldozing the design process with their timing instead of what is possible.
So I finished the layout and need to start the site drawing. And it hit. They approved the price but until I get a deposit be smart and not deliver finish work. They should keep their part of the responsibility in this collaboration in check too.

Project G
Not sure how he found me. Very correct in his emails. He wanted a one on one consultation. But surprised me by not coming alone. The conversation went good. I did feel that we all were a little nervous.  I felt like a little girl. Instead of an adult. Which made me feel more weird. But I was proud. It was my 4th consultation for the month within two weeks. I kept getting people contacting me. And it started feeling like yes. But reality hit. It's a yes only when they deposit. Everything else is just the beginning.

Project MS
The month began with a hyper potential client. That called on my first day working. It was a referral.  When I finally got a hold on her I figured out that I've already met her. I came up with her house concept pretty quickly. Funny.. While meeting she choose my concept in the end. We worked really well together. Not sure if she understands how long everything will take but for now I'm just starting with the definitive drawings .

That was a mouthful.  I didn't forget anything but I've noticed not one client was from my discount flyer for three years anniversary. Which is really funny.
