The first article is how to prevent against flood damage.
We protect by preventing three different stages from your house:
- site
- structure
- house design
Site
- flood proof site
- grade the lawn from the house
- construct permanent barriers
- install sewer back flow valves

Structure
- flood proof structure
- add waterproof veneer to exterior walls
- apply coatings for exterior walls
- install found vents and sump pump

House Design
- elevate above flood level
- build with flood resistant material
- raise or floodproof HVAC equipment and mechanical, plumbing and electrical system components
- anchor fuel tanks
- flood proof doors & windows
