Project Update | Tuesday 13th October 2020

 

Hello everyone,

Last week I had to follow up on three projects. That I have been waiting on a response since August.

Four bedroom house with rental units

This was a client from my father. And it is or was (we'll see) a middle person client situation again. I had during heavy Covid rules we had an consult. He explained that he is building for his sister. And wanted to point out how the house should be designed. But during the years I've learned that this doesn't really work and it's unnecessary time consuming. That's why when I sent an offer plus a concept layout without interior to the him. I didn't get response ever. But I've learned never to leave a project like that. The follow up is important even if the client moved on. You need to close it professionally with an email or call. So that's what I did and I heard from him like it was yesterday. So this is to be continued.

Freelance project for a two bedroom house 

This was a project also from August. I finished the design in July and the contractor had changes to please the budget. And I made sure the definitive designs were mailed to the contractor who hired me to work for them on this particular freelance project. The project ends with the building permit and I needed certain documents from the client's themselves (a hard working couple). And the last thing I heard from the contractor was that. And that was more than a month ago. The follow up email went smoothly. The contractor made a promise to contact the client's. So we'll see.

I had a female client who wanted to the whole design process. And needed the costs for my services. This was cancelled after the follow up.

Old classmate

An old classmate asked me for a little of my services. They send a excel sheet picture (I think) to give me an idea of how the design should look like. This new project is really interesting. I'm going to try and decipher his wishes.

 

Church design

Last week I finished the preliminary design after 2 corrections from the client. And yesterday 3rd correction. I had to put more windows for ventilation. I also got the okay to finish and start with the definitive design. So today I'm starting with the layout drawings.
